KPR Institutions is one of the KPR clusters' educational endeavors. It is situated in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu's eastern region, and has a contemporary infrastructure and a lush green environment. It receives 4 kWh/m2 of direct sun radiation year-round and is situated at 11'07" N and 77'14" E in the tropical region of India. The institution, which was constructed across 66.07 acres of land, has a tremendous deal of potential for collecting solar energy to meet its own energy needs. Despite being located in the city's industrial area, the school retains a green atmosphere and is a recognized green space.
The institution has more than 3000 students, 250+ faculty members, and more than 100 support staff members. It offers eight undergraduate programs and four postgraduate degrees. The university has 13 kW of installed solar PV equipment as part of its endeavor to use sustainable energy sources. The consumption is at its highest during the daytime when equipment such as computers, lab machines, and accessories are functioning under heavy loads in addition to the use of lights, fans, and air conditioners. Controlling or preserving electricity would be challenging without an energy audit. If the switch to conservation doesn't take place today, the departments' needs may be in danger if there is a future lack of direct electricity.
With full support from our institution, we, the KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology students, conducted an electrical energy audit, identified potential for solar energy harvesting, and looked at other options to propose solutions for our institution should such a situation arise in the near future.
